16949:2002 (Technical Specification) is an automotive quality system
requirements standard based on ISO 9001:2000 with additional requirements
of the car manufacturers Daimler Chrysler, Ford Motor Company, General
Motors Corp. It was prepared by International Automotive Task Force (IATF)
and Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association, Inc (JAMA) and ISO/TC 176.
This standard is an adaptation of the ISO 9001:2000 standard created by
the "big three" automakers and Toyota.
